Feb 28th
Query by brad_and_michele: how do i find domain registrant? Web domain has expired. I thought I had transferred my domain a number of a long time in the past to my internet hosting firm. I guess Í didn’t. My domain just expired (I didn’t obtain any warnings) and I really don’t know who to speak to to renew it with?
Very best solution:
Solution by Tao Barbiehttp://www.whois.net < -- Enter the domain in the first section " WHOIS Lookup" If your domain has expired, you can renew with any registrar on the net, unless someone else has taken the domain name already.

Question by SearchSleuth: How can I perform a whois search by registrant name? Doing some competitive research, but my key competitor put their domains on several IPs. I did a reverse IP lookup, but there are a bunch of other domains along with them (using shared hosting, I suppose). I do know that they use 3 variations of the same registrant name. Is there any tool or method by which to query whois databases for that information?

Other than that, no. Registrars aren’t too keen on revealing domain name registration records to third parties.

Answer by 3hmm… interesting question… I’ve only heard of reverse-IP search… but not by registrant name… let me know if you find out =)
Theoretically it should be easy… but they might restrict that sort of search for obvious privacy reasons.
