Question by Particle: Impact of racial marketing and promotion of Basketball? Do you believe the promotion and marketing of basketball in the United States is inherantly racist and if so do you believe it has any impact on how the game is played, players recruited etc?
For example, the game is marketed as a largely “black” sport, urban, hip-hop oriented and much of the focus is placed on a style of play favored more by black players than those of other ethnicities. What is the difference between a marketing campaign and a promotion?

Question by Lala: What is the difference between a marketing campaign and a promotion? My belief is that promotion is more broad than a marketing campaign (think the four p’s). A marketing campaign is found within promotion. I was also assuming a campaign is a strategy of speaking to a particular segment within your target. Is this the case? What if, for example, you have marketing activities you are doing specifically for Christmas. Could this be the Christmas promotion within a wider campaign?
