Question by : Is there any way to keep my att.net email address as a free yahoo account?
I am moving and have to cancel my AT&T service.
I already called AT&T and they actually said they don’t know the answer and I should Google it. Also, I am looking for a way to keep the address for free, not pay for it.

Best answer:

Answer by magnumgirl
Call them and ask them if you can pay to keep it. I understand they are doing that. Use the Internet Service number on your phone bill. You may have to ask for a second tier to get help. ATT gives you 90 days to move your files to your new account, then you loose the address. If it’s a Yahoo address you can keep that.

Question by : I want a email service?
I have created a website and a blog. Now I wanna create a email service in my website. Is it possible to do it for free ???

my website : http://xproweb.co.cc
my blog : http://xprowebblog.co.cc

Best answer:

Answer by zurna3
I’m assuming you own both domains, and have web hosting – http://xproweb.co.cc site isn’t yet up for me. For receiving email from myaddress@xproweb.co.cc you’ll either need to setup email forwarding from wherever your DNS hosting is being done (quite often the registra) which can be used to forward to a free email provider ie yahoo mail/hotmail/gmail etc, or you can setup an MX record to point to an email server and then configure your email accounts from where that’s hosted.

Many web hosts offer free email with their web hosting.

If you just meant a contact me form you can do this by way of a php script something like this will prob do the trick:

http://www.ibdhost.com/contact/

If you want to reply from your domain you’ll need to setup your email client to go via your email hostings smtp service, sometimes you can go via your isp’s but it may cause mail to get flagged as spam if the receiving mail server can’t verify the senders address.

It would make it much easier if you provided more details as to what you want and what is available to you. Email service is a little ambiguous

Importance of Segmentation in Email Marketing

Article by Kurt Eyman

What is segmentation?

Segmentation is the process of identifying groups of similar customers as well as potential customers and prioritizing both groups in order to address and understand their behavior. This allows companies to respond with an appropriate marketing strategy, satisfying the different preferences of each chosen segment. Utilizing segmentation allows email marketers to achieve higher relevance, more successful campaigns and diffuse any association with spam

What is the difference between spam and email marketing?

Many people have trouble differentiating spam from legitimate email marketing. They can be easily confused if an email marketing campaign is not done properly. Spam is unsolicited email in which recipients did not give the sender permission to the send the email. It accounts for nearly 54 percent of all internet email. Legitimate email campaigns have permission from recipients to send them their emails.

Why is segmentation important?

People are becoming weary of spam. They are increasingly deleting emails that resemble any form of advertising. Some people have even added spam filter devices on their email accounts that also filter out legitimate email marketing campaigns. Spam is the number one concern for a legitimate marketing campaign. One way to counteract the nuisance is using segmentation to personalize email messages. By using data on consumers and customizing emails for a specified target audience, consumers will feel more obligated to read the email and less worried that your marketing campaign is spam. According to Joseph Turow, professor of communication at the University of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg School of Communications, one of the most important things to remember in creating a successful email marketing campaign is “Don’t overload people with messages, get to them with exactly what you think they want to know, and don’t bother them too much with it,” This can only be done by using segmentation.

Easy way to start segmenting.

First thing you can do is delete unresponsive addresses. It makes no sense to continue sending emails to people who do not respond. You can also create extremely accurate segments that reflect marketing goals if you collect data on recipients at registration or follow-up requests. It is advised to gather some information on demographics or other data that can boost the sorting process but you can still design helpful segments based on a recipient’s history on your web-site.

Social Spamming – An Email Marketing No-No
I got a call from an email marketing friend of mind just the other day who needed help. Seems I get these kind of calls more and more often – once the folks who have my secret cell phone number find out I know my way around cyber space and that my computer skills go beyond setting up an email account and advanced mouse techniques, then suddenly I become their most trusted (and free) tech support associate.

So, Bill (name changed to protect the family of the guilty) rings me up at 7am, stammering and distraught, unable to string together a sentence of more three words. Immediately I’m thinking horrible tragedy…”Bill, what’s wrong? Did your mother’s kidney transplant go south? Did your son get busted for smoking pot again? Did someone back into your new Jag? No? Well, what then?”

“M-m-m-my Facebook account has been banned!”

“Oh Lord, no-o-o-o-o…. Bill, I’m so sorry.”

Are you laughing? Sure this is kinda funny, but if you use Facebook and other social networking services as part of your email marketing business strategy, getting your account banned can have serious adverse effects when it comes to your email marketing customer and prospect list. If someone tries to access your Facebook page after you’ve been banned, they would receive one of a number of different messages, basically none of which would reflect well on the integrity of your email marketing business. Not so funny.

Fortunately, it is fairly simple to protect yourself from this calamity. If you do happen to get tagged as an email marketing spammer and your account gets banned, there are steps you can take to be reinstated. First and foremost, a sincere email letter of apology and a strong promise to never again do what you did to get banned to start with will go a long way towards being forgiven. The bad news is you really don’t know how long this process will take – it could be weeks or months – and every day that goes by while your account is in banned status adds to the number of customers and potential customers who at least psychologically perceive you as an evil email marketing con artist.

Therefore, be proactive and make darn sure you’re following the rules of of whichever social networking platform you decide to use for your email marketing business. With Facebook, here are three useful pointers:

1. Don’t blast the same message out to everyone on your friends list. This will send up a red flag quickly.

2. Don’t send out too many friend requests at one time. This makes you look like a spammer. How many is too many? Facebook doesn’t specify but typically, twenty at a time is a lot. Gradually build up your friends list over time.

3. Set up a fan page for your email marketing business and identify it as such. This way, people know you’re a marketer before they become your fan, and everything is above board.

Question by erik_aufderheide: What is the pop3 and smtp server names for my business e-mail accounts? – for microsoft outlook express setup?
Sepecifically my accounts are:
erik.auderheide@indydixiechopper.com
kris.crossley@indydixiechopper.com
erikauferheide@yahoo.com

Best answer:

Answer by Patrick @ Prodigy
Your ISP (Internet Service Provider) will normally supply that information. For most accounts, the POP3 address for incoming mail will be something like pop.yahoo.com. As you can see, the first part of the address is almost always pop. The second and third parts are the mailserver’s name. For Yahoo, it would be Yahoo.com
For outgoing email, the Servers name would be something like smtp.yahoo.com. Try substuting indyixichopper for yahoo in the other addresses. If you’re currently receiving mail at your accouts, open OE and select Tools and Accounts to see the settings.

I need some AFFIRMATIVE arguments.
This is serious, please don’t answer unless you can back up what you’re saying and you know what you’re talking about.
I’m not asking the question, I just want more affirmative arguments.
And I want more detail.
Why should they be able to? (with or without a warrant)
How would this limited privacy effect a society?

Best answer:

Answer by fdm215
Not without a warrant. I see no reason for that.
