Question by Michael S: Now that the Hawaii government has stated that Obama’s birth certificate is valid, will the issue be dropped?
From the Pacific Business News (Honolulu), Friday, October 31, 2008:
The director of Hawaii’s Department of Health confirmed on Friday what Barack Obama has been saying all along: the presidential candidate was born in Honolulu.
“There have been numerous requests for Sen. Barack Hussein Obama’s official birth certificate,” said Chiyome Fukino. “State law prohibits the release of a certified birth certificate to persons who do not have a tangible interest in the vital record.”
Citing her statutory authority to oversee and maintain Hawaii’s vital records, Fukino said she has “personally seen and verified that the Hawaii State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures.
“No state official, including Gov. Linda Lingle, has ever instructed that this vital record be handled in a manner different from any other vital record in the possession of the State of Hawaii,” Fukino added.
Lingle, a Republican, has been campaigning on the Mainland for Obama’s opponent, Sen. John McCain of Arizona.
Obama, a Democratic senator from Illinois, was born Aug. 4, 1961, in Honolulu. He graduated high school at Punahou School in 1979.

Michele–There is no response due from Obama by Dec. 1. The Supreme Court is due to respond to Berg by that time.
In case you don’t realize it, the Supreme Court is an appeals court. It doesn’t collect evidence. That’s the job of the lower courts–the ones that have already dismissed the case. See link below.

SFC Ollie–Once Obama was born in the U.S., he is a U.S. citizen unless he formally renounces citizenship. There is always a record created when anyone renounces citizenship. It doesn’t matter if he was educated in Indonesia or became a dual citizen. Please read your Constitution.
Ms. Fukino is Director of Health for the Hawaii State Department of Health. She is a government employee and a physician. She is not a politician.

Of course not the right wingers need some conspiracy to cling to, what else do they have?

No, it won’t be dropped, because Republicans are going to disbelieve the story and continue believing their own delusion.

I hope so..

Very unlikely. You see, the newspaper is only a valid source when it SUPPORTS what someone wants to say LOL

I hope so this is a stupid issue. I would like to think that if there truly was a violation of the eligibility rules they would have been flushed out before he got the nomination.
I am a conservative and I voted for McCain and I still think this is stupid.

Hahahahaha! You can’t be serious! You honestly think you can show Republicans proof in black and white, and they’ll believe you?!?!
First, lets try convincing these morons that the sky’s blue, then we’ll slowly work towards other facts.

If someone’s “mind” is made up, then they won’t be confused by facts.

I think the first responder answered the question.
They won’t ever let it go. He could give a certified copy signed by God himself and it still won’t please SOME folks.

The diehard conspiracy theorist wingnuts will never let it go. To them, he’ll always be an Al Queda sleeper, ready to hand over Washington to Osama Bin Laden.
Sean Hannity needs a straitjacket.

Of course not. They will never let it drop, because the people that were behind this nonsense do not have a common sense.

Are we all agreed that this issue is dead. For all you from the losing party, get busy thinking up more lies.
This does not address the key issue: Was Obam’s birth registered fraudulently in Hawaii by his parents after they returned from Kenya? If so, the State of Hawaii wouldn’t know about it. What we need are not statements from government officials in an office that may have been duped, but valid hospital records from either Hawaii or Kenya. Until those hospital records are revealed, we simply do not know for sure where Obama was actually born. At different times, Obama has claimed to have been born in two different hospitals in Honolulu, and neither hospital appears to have any record of it. Incidentally, contrary to a comment by the person posing this question, the Philip Berg lawsuit has not been dismissed.

No. even with such a nice question and so verbose.
I think people like to have conspiracies theories..I wonder who makes
up all these conspiracies theories? JFK assassination? 911?

Nothing is ever dropped in politics. That’s why it takes a really strong person to become President.
No.
Because one person says they saw it does not make it true.
EVERY American citizen has a tangible interest to know the candidate was Constitutionally eligible for the office.
It will be over when O himself releases it to every major news outlet and allows experts to verify it.

Sorry but I admit that he has a true record of Birth in Hawaii. That does not answer if he was adopted and became a citizen of Indonesia.

Conspiracy theorists never admit they are wrong. Even when what they claim is patently ridiculous and they are proven wrong. They just up the conspiracy to saying, for instance, that “Well, they’re just in league with Obama and are lying about it so he won’t be removed from office. He wouldn’t produce it for Berg, so we know it’s all a scam!” Never mind that the court dismissed Berg’s case. The guy is a dingbat anyway – who once tried to sue the government for planning and carrying out 9/11. This whole thing still stinks to high heaven of idiocy and desperation.
Yeah, they’re that idiotic. Never mind all the details that prove them completely wrong, they will never let it go. Their egos won’t let them. Sad, really.
No Republicans will keep trying to lie about it.
are you kidding me ? the republicans need something to talk about for the next 16 years ( obama/biden time s two and then Hillary/biden times two terms). They will keep going on about it till they all die, and even then the rednex will pass it onto their children and so on….

No, some crazy people will continue to argue and insist he cannot be President. Some people are so unintelligent I can’t believe them.
What gets me with these people who believes that he is not a citizen is that wouldnt you think McCain and his campaign staff would of been all over this?
I mean did you not hear McCain himself say that Obama is a citizen?
Are you people just deaf or not care to listen to the facts?
No, the Tinfold Hat Society will continue to believe in their conspiracy theories until people like Berg bleed them dry and hell freezes over.
NO
Where did obama go when he went to see his granny?
Did she really die?
Why didn’t the media show obama with her?
Why didn’t he or the media go to her funeral?
Why hasn’t the media said or done anything to prove she died?
Why all the cover up??
No, sadly not. Conspiracy theorists are unfazed by factual evidence. Look at the “9/11 was an inside job” clowns, or the “liberal media” nutjobs.
I hope so! Really though, anyone who thought he wasn’t born here would be crazy. Do they not think that the Republican party wouldn’t have uncovered that during this past year of campaigning?!
The Naturalization Act of 1790 states that “And the children of citizens of the United States that may be born beyond the sea, or out of the limits of the United States, shall be considered as natural born citizens.”
John McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone and Barrack’s mom, being a U.S. born citizen, would have been enough anyway.
No, it probably won’t be dropped, because the right wing morons who wanted eight more years of Bush, in the person of McCain, look for any idiot reason to discredit Obama, having been driven to blind mad rage at his charisma, his popularity, and, oh yes, the fact that he’s now President-Elect, will continue to fling baseless slurs at him, such as the birth certificate non-issue, the “hates America”, the “hates white people”, the “friend with terrorists”, the “socialist” charge, etc. These people are pathetic.
I get the award for the world’s longest run-on sentence.
The birth certificate is not the only thing being questioned. He was asked to produce various documents and has so far refused to comply, ie: his college transcripts, his passport, you know, things that verify what he says. What is he hiding? Why won’t he produce the documents, why was his maternal grandmother kept out of the election campaign, why hasn’t he helped his homeless and poor relatives, he has left the door open by not addressing these issues.
People that I have questioned about the election could not give any other reason for electing him than we need change. There is always a change when any new president takes office, so the answer is insignificant.
I voted for McCain and God Bless America no longer applies, God Save America is more like it.

“State law prohibits the release of a certified birth certificate to persons who do not have a tangible interest in the vital record.”
Verifying eligibility to become president of the United States is not Tangible? I have no real reason not to believe that he was not born in Honolulu. But why will they not release any of his records? None!
Travel documents on his mother would prove if she was ever out of the country during her pregnancy. If any real investigative reporter was worth his salt this could be properly investigated. But why NO records released, birth, medical, Occidental, Harvard etc?
First, let me say I didn’t vote for him. I voted for McCain/Palin. I don’t think it will be dropped. Obama has too many questionable issues from his past. Hopefully President elect Obama can get this economy turned around in the right direction and not have to spend his 4 years defending his past. Even thought I don’t care for him, he should have been up front from the start of his campaign. He could have put a stop to it if he has nothing to hide.

People who support the foreign birth theory, will not let this go on the word of a good Democrat until the actual long form is made public so they can see exactly where and who reported the birth. The continuing theory is that Barack was not born in the US, traveled here while only a day or so old, and was reported as a US Birth outside of a hospital. So the long form will be necessary to quell their interest in the document.

Yes, they (Hawaii) has it, but they don’t reveal what is on it. A child could be born in Indonesia or Kenya and have the birth recorded in Hawaii at the time. His Certificate of Live Birth was already declared fraudulent. The Supreme Ct. will decide perhaps. It is on their docket.
Go to the Supreme Court website and put in a search for docket 08-570. Basically Obama and the DNC and others will have to give a response to a Writ of Certiorari by December 1.
There is also a suit in Hawaii. Additionally, USA Today is supposed to run a full page ad during this week demanding that Obama show his vaulted birth certificate.
Doesn’t make much sense why he wouldn’t have ended this in the lawsuit in PA and just showed the judge. Why would he fight showing it? Why would anyone trust him at this point? He wanted to bring about a constitutional crisis or does he believe he is above the law? Imagine the outrage and the anger if he isn’t eligible. Who did he hurt?
That will not fullfill the requirement of the court handling the law suit which has requested from President Elect Obama that he provide the court a copy. Really stupid for him to continue fighting it if the birth certificate is real and there and just makes it look like he is hiding something. The “right winger” who filed the law suit is a life time Democrat who supported Senator Clinton and filed it back during the Democratic Promaries before President Elect Obama was selected asd the candidate; it is his lawyers that have kept it dragging on this long and as stated above if nothing else is just making it look like he is hiding some thing. You have to show a certified copy of your birth certificate in most states to get a driver’s license, a paasport, register to vote and so on today (changed over the last decade or so) and I really do not see why President Elect Obama, the DNC and mainly the lawyers just don;t show the thing and end the whole thing. Yes the law suit does address a couple of other issues also and they should have been taken care of before the election but weren’t but really should be before the 20th of January. The entire lawsuit is Democrats suig Democrats and the man filing them is not right wing or conservative nor a Republican but a liberal Democrat so stop the name calling and blame game on “right wingers” because the elction is over and the questions are liberal to liberal so face it and stop trying to blame some one else. You should read up-an American cannot after birth accept dual citizenship and having dual citizenship which was requested by him or his family after his being born in the US is a violation of federal law and the punishment includes loss of US citizenship. Other nations will recognize dual citizenship of an American and foriegn national parent born outside the US but the US does not recognize it of a child born in the US. Indonesia at that time did not allow dual citizenship so if he changed to Indonesian citizenship he renounced his US citizenship-the filing of the renunciation is done by him or if he is a minor his parents but the filing is an administrative matter and would not effect the loss of US citizenship. None of the information you cited and told SFC Ollie to look up in the Constitution is in the Constitution it is all set in federal laws. The requirement for being native born is in there (or a resident at the time of the Declaration of Independence) but not a definition or discription of what is required to become or renounce US citizenship-the filing of renunciation is not a requirement for loss of citienship; you can walk in an embassy turn in your passport and tell them you renounce your citizenship and it is renounced whether papers are filed or not.
