The market for computer software got even larger also. Since computers are affordable and are now found in most American homes, people are buying more software. Plus, software includes many different programs. You really only need one computer, but you can have 10′s or 100′s of software programs.
The market for typewriters went down, obviously. Who wants a typewriter that is limited in its capabilities, when you could have an affordable computer with tons of possibilities?
