I reccomend Gmail (www.gmail.com)
It is not cluttered with ads, it is free, the web interface is very quick and responsive and they have pop access if you use programs like outlook.

Until the new Yahoo! mail comes out of beta — or at least the beta goes public — the easiest to use is Google mail. It also gives you the most storage (more than 2.5 GB).
That said, the new Yahoo! mail is said to be more like Outlook than Google is, and the current Yahoo! mail is pretty good, so if you’re used to Outlook you should probably consider getting a Yahoo! account and waiting for the new version.
Of course, you can always sign up for both, and try them both out — perhaps by signing each one up for a few mailing lists.

I believe that Yahoo provides the nicest interface, but GMail, Yahoo, and Hotmail are very good with both accessibility as well as a moderate amount of SPAM control.

I prefer Gmail, but Yahoo! mail is good too..also look at bluebottle and shinyfeet…
Fastmail is excellent but free version doesn’t provide enough storage.

GMAIL all the way!!! its the fastest mail service. Especially the conversation grouping and going back to inbox in an instant and autosaving of draft.
But the biggest facet is that the Spam filter is awesome! Not 1 spam mail since! If u want an invitation, then mail me at abhishek18@gmail.com
