Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server:plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com (Use SSL, port: 465, use authentication)
Account Name/Login Name:Your Yahoo! Mail ID (your email address without the “@yahoo.com”)
Email Address:Your Yahoo! Mail address (e.g., user@yahoo.com)

For yahoo mail you need upgrade to yahoo mail plus to get
the full pop3 service for access to outlook,incredimail,
thunderbird, and others.
And use the yahoo mail servers address.
* Incoming Mail Server (POP3): plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com
Use SSL, port: 995
* Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Use SSL, port: 465, use authentication

I’ve just asked a similar question. SMTP port numbers can become nonfunctional by changing ISPs. I’ve spent days with ISPS and hours on the phone with Yahoo. It appears we are getting forced off of MS OL in particular. Even if you take out domains with Yahoo (I have nine!), they still affiliate your name in OL with a free Yahoo ID username (e.g. thepaxilman). My first email was sent in 1973, and I have tried to stay on top of these changes. The guys in India do a good job for Yahoo, and I think it is still the best service around, however, these SMTP port changes are getting very complicated.
Once you have learned everything else, try outgoing server (SMTP) = 587.
Now for some paranoia: If Google buys Yahoo, then Wikipedia will be top ranked for almost anything one searches. While you and I might not agree on politics and religion, I’ll bet we both value freedom of speech. For certain subjects, freedom of speech is suppressed on WP.
