Question by Sozain: DNS setting for domain name?
I took a domain name from godaddy and then took a hosting service with a different company. then I logged in to my c-panel and tried to install 1-click wordpress through Fantastico. It was properly installed but my website is not going to be open. When I contacted my webhost, they asked me that I should contact to my domain registrar and ask them to set my dns for my domain name.
I want to ask, is it mandatory to contact domain registrar for setting dns or not? Is it really related to my problem regarding wordpress?

You can use whois to check your registration and nameservers. Then you can look up your webserver address in DNS using dig or something. It ought to match what you are using.
The registrar has to know what your nameservers are, because it has to enter them in the top-level domain, But it does not have to host them – they can be somewhere else.

You might have to contact your domain registrar seeing as you are no longer on that domain unless you own your own domain controller.

You have to enter the hosting service’s name servers addresses in the Domain Manager. You’ll have to log into the Domain Manager and type in the name servers by going to the DNS tab. Something like this one:
https://controlpanel.netfirms.com/en-us/cp_login_form
or this one:
https://manage.opensrs.net/index?action=logout
Once you have the name servers entered and pointing to your host’s server, it will take UP to 72-hours for your site to show up. Sometimes much less.

Let me put it to you this way: if you want the domain name to show on the internet, then yes, it’s mandatory – you must contact your domain registrar.
If you don’t want the name available, then it’s not mandatory. It’s your choice.
Your hosting company would not have told you to contact your registrar if they didn’t look up the domain name to see if this was the issue. Most hosting companies look up the domain name first, to see where it’s pointed. This is the first mistake most folks make – they don’t point the domain name to the correct nameservers.
If you’re having issues pointing it correctly, call godaddy. They’ll help you.

just some simple steps
log in your Godaddy account > my domains >

after geting into your dns setting control pannel
edit your A (Host) record … just put your hosting company’s IP addres in point to box.. thats it ..
